CCUA: Notice of Unknown Service Line Material
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently updated its Lead and Copper Rule to further reduce the risk of lead exposure in drinking water.
Water provided by Clay County Utility Authority (CCUA) meets all regulatory standards and does not contain lead when it leaves our treatment facilities. However, in some cases, lead can enter drinking water through older service lines or plumbing materials located on private property.
Why This Work Is Important
CCUA is developing a comprehensive inventory of service line materials throughout our system, including those located on private property. This effort supports compliance with updated EPA requirements and helps ensure the continued safety of our drinking water.
Current Efforts
- Partnering with licensed plumbers to inspect service lines across the service area
- Collecting information from customers about the material of the pipe connecting their home to the meter
- Verifying materials in older homes, particularly those built prior to 1988
Take Action
Customers are encouraged to visit clayutility.org/wqr to:
