Watering Guidelines & Seasonal Tips

To ensure the efficient use of water and protect our natural resources, CCUA enforces mandatory watering restrictions year-round. These rules apply to all residential and non-residential properties, regardless of the water source (private wells, pumps, ground/surface water, or utility-supplied water).

General Rules

  • Do not water between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • Limit irrigation to no more than one hour per zone.
  • Water only when needed.

Reclaimed Water Information

Reclaimed water is a safe, environmentally responsible alternative to using fresh drinking water for irrigation. By using highly treated wastewater for your lawn and garden, you help conserve our Floridan Aquifer and reduce the need for new drinking water facilities.

Irrigation System Maintenance

Irrigation systems are one of the most common sources of high water usage. Customers should regularly check sprinkler heads, rain sensors, and irrigation timers to ensure systems are operating properly and not watering during rain events.

Cross Connection Inspections

Protecting your drinking water is a top priority. All homes and businesses using reclaimed irrigation water must complete a cross connection inspection. These inspections are provided at no cost to customers and help ensure irrigation systems are properly connected and do not pose a risk to the potable drinking water system.

Approved Irrigation Contractors

Need repairs or a new system installation? We maintain a list of approved irrigation contractors who are authorized to work within our service area. If you use reclaimed water, it is especially important to use a contractor authorized to service those specific systems.
